Distribution: All of the previously described species are found in Mexico with two extending north into the United States.

 
 

Composition: the genus Orizabus contains 18 species with eight of those having been described since 1990. 

 
 

Diagnosis: Orizabus species may be recognized by the presence of an entire or bilobed transverse carina immediately behind the clypeal apex, protibia with its apex rounded (instead of subtruncate), protibia with without teeth or lobes in males, and/or females, and pronotum with or without an anterior tubercle and fovea.

 
 
 
 
 

Biological notes: The adults are nocturnal and some species are attracted to lights at night.
