Sensory Sunday
An Inclusive Family Day at Morrill Hall

Free for attendees | Regular museum admission after 12:30pm

Children and adults with special needs and their families are invited to attend Sensory Friendly Sunday – a morning at the Museum for families to experience the new fourth floor and participate in activities in a more quiet, supportive environment.

At this event, certain areas of the museum will be altered to best be accessible for everyone. Where possible, exhibit sounds will be turned down or off.

Pre-registration to this event is suggested but not required. Registration comes with information that will help you plan your visit.

This morning includes:
  • Get up and move during yoga at 10:45 am or 11:30 am
    Kathy Collins, a yoga instructor trained in leading child yoga, will lead some basic yoga poses in a 20-minute session set to soothing music (but come and go as you please). Bring your yoga mat or mats will be provided.
  • Designated “take a break” spaces will be available on the second and third floors if your child needs a quiet space.
  • Free planetarium experience. During this morning, Mueller Planetarium will have an open door so that you can come and go as you please.
  • Several activity stations will be set up on different floors of the Museum if your child chooses to participate. Feel animal hides, dig in a sandbox, and explore items at a touch table.
  • The Autism Society of Nebraska will have information to share
  • Fidgets will be available for use while in the Museum.

The Museum will open to the public at 12:30 pm, however, families are welcome to stay in Morrill Hall and continue to enjoy the exhibits as long as you like.
