Upcoming Activities

Archeology provides a window into the history and culture of past humans. What do we know and how do we know it? Come find out! Join History Nebraska's Nolan Johnson and Dr. Rebecca Wiewel from UNL's College of Arts & Sciences for September's Sunday with a Scientist.
Join UNSM's paleontologists, researchers, and educators as we explore all things fossil through hands-on activities and engagement stations.

Mission control, we have liftoff! In this Fall Break camp, campers will learn about the highly specialized mission control facility and team of people who coordinate and carry out space missions. Campers will also get to go through the steps and planning it takes to carry-out a space mission of their own. Through these missions, campers will explore celestial bodies within our own galaxy and beyond! This camp is best suited for ages 6-8.

Did you know Elephants used to live in Nebraska? Rhinos too? Nebraska and the organisms that used to call it home have changed a lot in the last 14 million years. With the help of our resident paleontologists, Campers will get to explore ancient life throughout the Museum and will complete their own fossil dig. This camp is best suited for ages 9 - 11.

Sunday with a Scientist gives people the opportunity to learn from real scientists about special topics and careers within the scientific field. Learn from Dr. Eileen Hebets from UNL’s College of Arts and Sciences about spiders!
The study of spiders is called Arachnology! Put on your archeology hat and explore the world of our eight-legged friends!

Join us for a spooktacular time trick-or-treating while exploring exhibits, participating in games, and doing crafts and activities.
Trick or Treat
We will provide candy and non-candy items at stations throughout
the building. This activity is included with admission. Please
bring your own trick-or-treat bag to fill (we will have a limited
number of basic paper treat sacks for those without a bag).
