Goliaths

Meet the giants with real flower power

This exhibit features Goliath beetles, the world’s heavyweight insects, and their relatives flower chafers and scarabs. Come learn what separates these beetles from other insects, where to find them, and their role in our ecosystems.

This exhibit features hundreds of actual specimens from UNSM's entomology collection. It's not a stretch to say some are like living works of art. And those horns! The exhibit includes additional digital and hands-on interactive components as well.

Goliaths is included with museum admission and can be found on the museum's third floor.

Goliaths was made possible by donors Ron Young and Nova Brown Young, Alex and Cristi Reifschneider, and Dr. Michael Ritterbrown. The exhibit was sponsored by Latta and Perry Branch, Mark and Diann Sorensen, and UNL Entomology.
